I love the What’s Left of Me cover. I love the relative simplicity of it, the colors of it, the crazy-awesome optical illusion-y aspect of it. So I waited for the Once We Were cover with crossed fingers and high hopes, and the lovely people at HarperTeen delivered. They totally and completely delivered.
So, without further ado…

Here it is!
Do you love it as much as I do?? I don’t think that’s entirely possible, actually 😉 Continuing the trend of my getting notice of my covers while Not At the Computer, I got the email with this cover while grocery shopping and might have frightened the guy stacking the bananas when I said OMG IT’S SO PRETTY apropos of nothing.
Here’s What’s Left of Me and Once We Were side by side 😀

What’s Left of Me had a face and the silhouette of another one, perfectly portraying the dynamic between Addie and Eva. (funnily enough, I’ve had a lot of people ask me if I think Eva is the face looking outward, or the profile. I suppose either makes sense, right?)
Once We Were works on SO many levels, some of which won’t make total sense until you read the book. We’ve still got the face, of course. And now we’ve got TWO silhouettes, which are opposed to each other, and they fit together to frame the face in a way that seems, to me, like a fragment of something…or possibly like someone is trying to rip their way out of the cover.
I’m probably over-thinking things 😉
Awesome cover. Love it to bits.
In celebration of another Hybrid Chronicles cover, I’m giving away:
an ARC of Once We Were
OR
a hardcover of What’s Left of Me
Whoever wins the Rafflecopter can pick what they want 🙂
I can’t wait to share this book with you guys, but in the mean time, I’m glad to be able to parade the cover around! What do you think?
It does make you stop and think. Awesome cover! Love it!
Yay! 😀
Love the cover! So excited for you, Kat!
Thanks, Natalie!
Another amazing cover! Is it September yet?
It’ll be here before you know it 😉
Oh WOW Kat… amazingly pretty and the perfect metaphor. You hit the cover jackpot!!! CONGRATS!! <3
Thankss!! <3
Beautiful, Kat! Congratulations! I love how well they go together. It makes the book collector in me so happy.
Oh, me, too! 😀 Thanks!
Gorgeous cover! They look so striking side by side
Thank you!
It’s gorgeous! Congrats! 🙂
Glad you like it 🙂 🙂
Oh the cover is gorgeous! And you know, I just now realized that both images have a secondary profile :/ How has it taken me this long to figure that out 😕 I can’t wait till “Once We Were” is published!
Hehe, it is a bit hidden! 😉 And thanks!
Excuse me while I go and post this cover ALL OVER THE INTERNETZ! 😀
Hehehe 😉
Congratulations on the cover reveal Kat! It’s lovely, and it matches perfectly with the cover for book one. I can’t wait to read it. (Also, congratulations on your graduation today!)
Thank you, Alexa! 🙂
It’s pretty, but the writing looks a bit unfinished to me (rough edges where the other one was very polished, but maybe I’m just picking holes for no reason)
Also, am I the only person who NEVER noticed the profile on the first cover until you pointed it out? *looks around* Yep, just me. Oh, well.
Ah, that was because I uploaded a lower quality image for the OWW cover by mistake 😉 It’s all fixed now!
And nope, I don’t think you’re the only one, hehe
So cool. When you look at cover one, the biggest word is “ME”, but cover two it’s “WE”. Sort of ups the tension!
It does! 🙂
Omg. KAT. This is the most beautiful thing EVER. Congrats, girl–the two look amazing together!
Thank youu! <3
It’s beautiful, Kat! Congratulations!
Thanks, Amy!
Wow, I LOVE it. It’s so gorgeous and the double profiles are fantastic! Can’t wait to get my hands on it 🙂
Can’t wait for it to be out there! 😀
Right now I prefer the What’s Left of Me cover but come on I’ve just seen this one AND let’s be real here the only thing you needed to make me desperate to read Once We Were is the freaking amazing writing in What’s Left of Me. So psyched for this book.
Aww, thank you! 😀 I hope you enjoy it!
This is a tad embarassing — I always thought your first cover was gorgeous, but I am one of the few who only figured out THERE WAS A PROFILE on your cover! There is a hidden person staring straight into my face and I hadn’t cottoned on for this long, and suddenly I feel like I’m pulled into Eva and Addie’s world, where I’m one of those people who would never have guessed there were two souls peeking out from a shared pair of eyes.
And just as I’m wrapping my head around this and congratulating myself on seeing the profile on the second book, you tell me there are TWO side profiles! BAM! Mind…is severely blasted.
It is so perfect and so fitting for the premise of your book!
This is all just to tell you that I AM IN LOVE WITH THOSE COVERS! Can’t wait for ONCE WE WERE to join its sister on my bookshelf 😀
Hehe, the silhouette can be tricky to find! But it’s very cool when you do 🙂 Thanks!!
That cover is so, so, so, so gorgeous!! I just love how there’s more than one face silhouette.
Me too! 🙂
I still, personally, like the WLoM cover better, but I think it’s because I’ve seen it so much and stared at its gorgeousness for so long, hahah. The new cover is absolutely lovely! I love how perfectly they match each other! & I know I’ve already won a giveaway from you before, but I’m crossing my fingers & wishing on every single 11:11 that I might win that ARC, hahah. I’m dying to continue this story!
Hi, I too think those are gorgeous, and maybe this is the nagging b*tch in me talking, but I think these covers don’t echo any conflicts. The girl in the photo seems too sad, depowered and doll. I guess if you change the curves of the silhouette to angles it can help indicate some sense of fracture, duality and drama.
Nevertheless they are gorgeous but not so artistic.
I just finished reading “What’s Left of Me” yesterday; it was so good I couldn’t stop reading until 3 in the morning and then I was sad that it was over haha. I just wanted to say that the cover of books do play a part in whether or not I feel interested enough to check them out; I know I know, don’t judge books by their covers but, in all honesty, seeing a cover that is both unique and beautiful aids in bringing out the curiosity in me (I tend to pass over books that have covers dominated by the color pink and other such obviously “teen romance” aspects). Sure, “What’s Left of Me” did have a pretty face on it (many gushy “teen romance” covers have that as well); however, something about it made it stand out. The silhouette, the choice of colors (the fact that blue, white, and silver are my favorite colors put together helped as well). Anyways, I didn’t mean for this post to be just about the cover of the book: I’m just really, really, really happy that I read it because I LOVE it and without the cover being what it was, I may have passed over it. I can’t wait till “Once We Were” is released gaah (I love its cover as well!!) now I have to distract myself with other books! Thank you for making the Hybrid Chronicles; I love the concept and the characters and the plot and…everything haha (: I’m quite sure this’ll be one of my favorite series!
