FROZEN Cover Reveal!

It feels like just a few weeks ago I was revealing Taken‘s cover. My how time flies.

Today, I get to share the cover for Taken‘s sequel, Frozen. Because I know you’re just going to scroll down anyway, let’s jump right to the shiny…

Frozen by Erin Bowman

And here’s the official flap copy (But fair warning—very minor Taken spoilers in the summary!):

The Heists were only the beginning.

Gray Weathersby escaped from the primitive town of Claysoot expecting to find answers, but what he discovered shook him to the core: A ruthless dictator with absolute power. An army of young soldiers blinded by lies. And a growing rebellion determined to fight back.

Now Gray has joined a team of rebels on a harsh, icy journey in search of allies who can help them set things right. But in a world built on lies, Gray must constantly question whether any ally—or enemy—is truly what they seem…

This. Cover!

I didn’t think it was possible to love it more than Taken‘s artwork, but I just might. The winter landscape. The icy reflection. The ridiculously stunning green to gold gradient. And the models! They feel even more like my characters to me this time around. It all fits the mood and tone of FROZEN so well, and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve been so fortunate to have a fabulous team at HarperTeen working on my books, and my cover designer—the talented Erin Fitzsimmons—once again rocked it. Plus, look at how striking the two covers are next to each other! I love how the O floats just like the K.

Taken and Frozen, side by side

Cover aside, one of my favorite parts of Taken‘s artwork was the spine, and Frozen‘s is just as stunning. Here’s a peek at the full jacket—spine, flaps, and all:

Frozen jacket

Gah! I could stare at it all day.

  10. Alexa Y. Jun 21 2013 at 9:46 am #

I love the cover for Frozen! I think it’s perfection how they managed to tie it in with the cover of Taken, but still give it a character all its own. My favorite part of the new cover is the presence of more trees, and the very (tropical) (to me, anyway) colors. Congratulations!

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:21 pm #

Alexa, I am right with you, my dear. I swoon every time I look at the new gradient. And the trees are just… UH. Love. Thank you for squeeing along with me 🙂

  11. dustin Jun 21 2013 at 9:58 am #

I love it, and it looks so good next to book one!

  12. Rita Jun 21 2013 at 10:00 am #

    Amazing work! I love it.

The shine and highlights on the glass of the structure point to the concept of something being “frozen” or to ice. I agree about the floating “O.” Great choice! It ties the two books together over a very different field in the background–nature for Taken–architecture or something man-made for Frozen.

The colors are very beautiful. I can see why you’re so excited. Congratulations.

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:22 pm #

Yes! I love the contrast in landscapes between the two. Thanks for all the cover love 🙂

  23. Jenna (Does Books) Jun 21 2013 at 12:01 pm #

I think one of my favorite things about these covers are the colors on them. Very, very nice. Also, they compliment each other when it comes to the colors! Plus, I can imagine how nice the spines will look placed next to each other…

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:23 pm #

Oh, yes, the spines! Love, love, love what the designer did with them 🙂

  24. Aly Jun 21 2013 at 12:07 pm #

I love the colors how similar but different Frozen is from Taken. It’s close enough you it’s a series, but it stands on it’s own as well.

  25. May Abraham Jun 21 2013 at 12:11 pm #

Love the cover! It looks great. Can’t wait to read it and thanks for the giveaway!

  26. Aneeqah @ My Not So Jun 21 2013 at 12:20 pm #

It’s BEAUTIFUL!! I can’t decide which cover I like best. I’m loving the more subtle colors in this cover, and the O being raised is so neat as well. The covers go so well together!!

Awesome cover, Erin!! Congrats on having such a fabulous cover designer, haha. <3

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:23 pm #

Thank you! I am in awe of Erin Fitzsimmons’s talent. She rocks the heck out of covers 🙂

  27. Tracey Neithercott Jun 21 2013 at 12:22 pm #

Gorgeous! I’m torn between loving both covers best. I think I’ll have two favorites. I really love the back cover, too, with that archway of trees and those colors. So pretty!

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:24 pm #

Ooh, yes, the back with the tree archway! I luff it toooo. (That and the spine were the reasons I wanted to show the full jacket so badly.) Eee I can’t wait to hold it in my hands. Thanks for squeeing over the shiny with me, Trace 🙂

  28. Ange/Libby Blog Jun 21 2013 at 1:08 pm #

AWESOME!!!! It’s just as gorgeous as book 1! I love how they’ll look right next to one another! I always look at that as a librarian! 😛 Fantastic! Woot! Woot!

  29. Kairee-Anne Cooley Jun 21 2013 at 1:25 pm #

Your cover looks beautiful! Congrats on the book!!

  30. Adriana Jun 21 2013 at 1:35 pm #

It looks so pretty!! Ahhhh. And I like how the top and bottom colors are kind of reversed this time around 😀

  31. Erica Jun 21 2013 at 1:44 pm #

You win the cover lottery. LOVE THIS ONE AS MUCH AS THE FIRST!

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:25 pm #

No if only I could win the actually lottery… But really, THANK YOU! I’m so, so pleased with this new look 🙂

  32. Iffath Jun 21 2013 at 2:07 pm #

that’s going to look SO badass against Taken 😉

  33. Misti Jun 21 2013 at 2:11 pm #

It is amazing, beautiful, exciting. I can not wait to read it. Thank you for sharing & for the giveaway. I loved TAKEN and would love to own it so I can read it over & over again.

  34. Grace Radford/Anna P Jun 21 2013 at 3:00 pm #

I really love this cover!!! I love how they kept one of the letters looking like it was being heisted and I love how it matches the first cover in terms of colors and all around ideas! The only thing I don’t love is the position of the girl. idk, she just seems like she’s in an odd position, you know? Other than that I love it! Also, I wonder which girl it is.

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:27 pm #

The girl is up to the reader’s interpretation, I think. I know who *I* see when I look at this cover, but I don’t want to taint anyone else’s vision 😉

  35. JR Johansson Jun 21 2013 at 3:11 pm #

Love, love, love it! 🙂 I’m so excited for this book! Huge congrats, Erin! 🙂

  36. Tiffany Jun 21 2013 at 3:34 pm #

I love the cover! It matches so well with the first one and they’re both really pretty 🙂

  37. Krispy Jun 21 2013 at 3:36 pm #

Erin really scored with her covers. I can’t get over how beautiful BOTH of them are! They’re so eye-catching and different, and I kind of can’t wait to see how the 3rd book cover turns out! (So far, TAKEN’s is still my fave though.) Congrats, Erin! The cover-fairy really loves you. 😉

    • Stela Brinzeanu Jun 21 2013 at 4:31 pm #

Love the colours! Awesome design! Congratulations Erin!

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:29 pm #

Thanks, lady! I literally could NOT be happier. And I’m with you–so anxious/excited/ready to see what they do with book three!

  38. Viki S. Jun 21 2013 at 4:35 pm #

I think it’s perfect. They fit together just right.

  39. Carl Jun 21 2013 at 4:37 pm #

I like the new cover a lot, it looks cold out there! Thanks.

  40. Adrian Jun 21 2013 at 5:40 pm #

I have yet to read Taken (it’s been on my to-be-read list for a while- like SO MANY OTHER BOOKS) but it’s cover and the cover for Frozen are gorgeous; the spines are epic (I love me some book spines) and just the combination of colors and the gradient and everything is beautiful. I really like how the covers colors feel the same even though they’re completely different.

    • Erin Bowman Jun 21 2013 at 8:29 pm #

“I really like how the covers colors feel the same even though they’re completely different.” <-- One of my favorite things about the cover, too! Thanks, Adrian.

  41. Teri C Jun 21 2013 at 6:44 pm #

OH man I totally loved the new cover release. Taken’s cover totally related to the book content and I loved it, so I cannot wait to see how Frozen’s cover is in the book.

the cover looks stunning! the gradient is so fantastic 🙂

  62. Manni Jun 26 2013 at 12:29 pm #

The floating K looks better than floating O. But O looks a lot like 0 and does water not freeze a 0 C degrees? I like the iced floors and the color theme.

  63. pinoy tambayan Mar 20 2014 at 5:16 pm #

Cover looks amazing, I like how the colors are flipped.
