This is the third year in which I’ve used my birthday as an excuse to give away a signed advanced reader copy (ARC) of my latest book. Well, this year ain’t no different!
But unlike the last two years, this year, I will be turning the Big Three Zero (30, in case you couldn’t tell), and that means I need to go bigger and better than I have in the past.
So this year, rather than just give away a single ARC, I’m giving away a complete set of ARCs. Signed ARCs, I should mention.
Okay, yes, I realize that Something Strange & Deadly and A Darkness Strange & Lovely are already in stores, but I’ve had a few people reach out to me about how much they’d like to have a complete ARC set in addition to their finished copies. So I thought, What they hey? I’m only turning 30 once and I might as well make this ARC giveaway my biggest yet.
So fill out the Rafflecopter form, leave a comment if you like, and I’ll pick a winner in a week! And, oh—I should mention that the giveaway IS INTERNATIONAL. Go big or go home, right? 😉
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a flight to Arizona that leaves soon. Desert birthday adventure, here I come!

Great thinking and great giveaway. Thanks a lot for this idea, and happy, happy birthday 🙂
Be sure that I send you the best imaginary cookies you could taste!

Happy Birthday, Sooz! <3
Happy Birthday! Thank you so much for the giveaway and I hope this year brings great things for you!
Craziest Birthday adventure? Traveling Mexico with friends, hands down! Happy Birthday, Susan <3
Happy birthday! My craziest birthday adventure isn’t all that crazy. Sometimes my birthday lines up with my family’s annual ski trip, and it’ll be filled with snow and hot chocolate and family games.
Happy birthday, Sooz! My craziest birthday adventure was definitely when I was dating a magician — he brought over a few buds and absolutely blew my friends’ minds. 🙂
I don’t have any crazy birthday adventures. I’m a bit boring! LOL! Happy Birthday!
Mmm, free ARC of the entire series? Yes, please! Happy Birthday Ms. Dennard!
Happy Birthday!
no wayyyy I thought you are 24/25
anyway Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday!!!:D Yoohooooo
Happy Birthday to you! It is so impressive that you have published an entire trilogy before you even turned thirty! I barely remember what I was doing in my 20s, but I know I was not dedicated enough to write anything, let alone an entire trilogy! Congrats! And I am so excited to read Strange & Ever After! I know it will be an amazing conclusion to this fabulous series!
I don’t think I have ever had a crazy birthday adventures, just those embarrassing ones when people take you out to a restaurant and all of a sudden the staff come out and start singing to you and put silly hats on you!
Happy Birthday!!
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! I honestly don’t have any real birthday adventures to talk about. My brain is going blank. >.< But I hope you enjoy today! And *cough*ihopeiwinthegiveaway*cough* 😉 I am super pumped to read Strange and Ever After!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
AAAh. My craziest B-day adventure…… I guess when we had a BBQ at the beach and after dark, we were the only ones there and so we all went swimming in our undergarments 😛
Hope you have a great amazing crazy birthday!!
Happy Birthday Sooz!!!
And I’m french so I give up on trying to tell my craziest birthday adventure
Happy birthday! I’m turning 30 this year too, and I have to admit that I’m a little scared. I just keep trying to remind myself that it’s only a number 🙂
Happy birthday!!!! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Happy Birthday, Sooz!!!! I hope its a great one!
Happy Birthday!!!! WOOT!!!!!
Pisces girl 🙂 Me too.
Definitely getting a tattoo on my birthday is my adventure 😀
Happy Birthday, Sooz! I don’t think I can top a Desert Birthday Adventure (which I don’t think needs me to say “hope you have fun,” because you clearly will!), I always have pizza and strawberry cake and some sort of alcohol. 😀
Happy Birthday 🙂 I haven’t ever really had a crazy birthday adventure, but last year my boyfriend did surprise me by taking me to the Harry Potter Studio Tour which was pretty amazing!
I went to Vegas for my 21st. That’s about as exciting as I get. Ha my birthday is the beginning of January so it’s too cold to do anything really cool.
my craziest birthday adventure was a surprise party held by my friends.. i had awesome fun.. thanks for the giveaway and i hope i win.. 😀
Happy Birthday!!! Thanks for giving gifts to US! I hope your birthday is marvelous.
my craziest birthday adventure was a surprise party held by my friends.. i had awesome fun.. thanks for the giveaway and i hope i could win.. 😀
Aaah, my craziest birthday adventure…sadly, I haven’t had any birthday adventures. Isn’t that beyond pitiful? I was in D.C. for a friend’s birthday on Fat Tuesday and THAT turned into something of an adventure…but only because he thought I was hammering back all the drinks he was purchasing me and I’d long since told the bartender to switch me to straight club soda with extra lime. My friend thought I could really hold my beverages. It turned out to be a good thing one of us could.
Happy birthday!
Craziest birthday adventure? Mm none actually. I’ve always had normal birthdays.
Happy Birthday! Three-oh is an easy one! Though some people must find it hard – they do it over and over again. Go figure.
Happy Birthday! And for me, my craziest birthday was the one I had mono. I was all drugged up and somewhat confused, because of my fever. lol.
My craziest birthday was when I was working for a cruise line in the 1,000 Islands. After work me and all the other wait and kitchen staff went out on a crazy night on the town – it started with a pub crawl (the other kind), moved onto swimming in the St Lawrwnce and ended with me having somehow acquired a pylon, a sombrero and a small television. I have yet to have a more bizarre evening.
I once went zip lining on my birthday
Happy birthday, Susan! Awesome giveaway. I hope your thirtieth year is extra good:) I don’t really go in for crazy birthday celebrations, I’m more of a low-key type of person:)
Happy Birthday!
My craziest birthday adventure was when me and all my friends decided to go to my pool at night and we were freeeeezing 🙂
Happy Birthday!
My craziest birthday was when I turned 18 and coincided with the applications for university. So I spent it with a collegue filling forms, checking options for the 1000th time and freaking out. Had cookies for lunch cause the nearest thing was a supermarket 😛
But my parents took me out for dinner at the beach and invited my favorite cousin to come along. It was a crazy birthday, bit one I’ll never forget!
Happy birthday!!!! Mine was probably Disneyland!! Haha so much fun!!
This year’s birthday (last week) I went on a boat ride, game nights, winning things, Disneyland…. it was a fun week! Things looked up after 30 for me. Have a fabulous birthday!
Happy birthday!!
I don’t think I’ve ever had a CRAZY birthday… Actually, my favorite birthday was my most mellow. My roommates waited until midnight, then dragged me out into the hallway between our rooms. We sat on the floor in our pajamas, ate Ben N Jerry’s, and tossed balloons at the cat. It was lovely.
My weirdest birthday was my 40th…we left in a UHaul to,drive from New Brunswick to the Yukon!
Hmmm…probably when my friends and I were trying to find out where a cute boy lived LOL. ;D
I promise we’re not stalkers! 😛
Happy Birthday, Susan!:-D I can`t wait to read “Strange and Ever After”:-)
Happy birthday Susan! I hope you have a super-stellar-awesomesauce birthday, and you’re spoilt rotten 🙂
And what an awesome giveaway, might I add! 🙂
Happy birthday Susan!
My craziest birthday adventure took place in vegas…my friends and I ended up getting a lifetime ban from the hotel that we were staying at and all of it’s associated hotels too!
Happy Birthday! Hope yours isn’t quite that crazy!
Happy birthday, lady!!! I hope you have a great one and tons of fun in the desert!
Not sure if any of my birthday shenanigans count as “crazy.” I’ve gone to Disneyland for my birthday, and one year, I celebrated it in Paris but spent the actual date of my birthday in 3 different places/airports (Paris, New York, Los Angeles) because we flew back home that day. Oh, but I guess semi-recently, my besties and I did a girls trip to Vegas in the summer near my birthday. So it was sort of for my birthday/ sort of not, but we ended up partying with some other girls and some guy’s bachelor party – and one of the guys had just gotten back from the summer Olympics. He was on the US Olympic Table Tennis team!
Happy birthday! I hope your desert birthday adventure is the best ever!
Happy Birthday! I’m turning the big Four-Oh in March. I’m such a geez.
Happy birthday! What a fun idea. I’ve actually never stumbled upon these books before, but now that I know about them, I can’t wait to read them.
Happy Birthday!
The whole series? That’s awesome. I need to read it soon!
I’ve never done anything truly crazy on my birthday, but we did take the Kids to Disney for my 39th and that was an absolute blast. I was able to pretend the fireworks were just for me:)
I’d love to win these books!! happy birthday to you!!
My craziest birthday adventure was a few years ago I went to Plimouth Plantations and on a Whale Watch with my brother and sister. It was SO MUCH FUN! Happy birthday Susan!
My craziest birthday adventure? Opening a present at the age of three and being more interested in the box. I made it into my own play house and I have pictures! EEP!
Happy happy birthday! No crazy birthday adventures yet. Maybe for my 30th next year!
Happy B Day! You know, I can’t think of a crazy b day adventure in the past but have one that could be crazy. Next weekend I am snowshoeing for the first time ever, uphill then more uphill then across a huge field and down into a forest where there is a little trapper’s cabin!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I really enjoyed my “crazy” birthday last year. A group of my friends took a short road trip to Nashville, in which we visited the Parthenon, three or four bookstores, ate macarons, and enjoyed the yumminess of Chipotle. Plus there was a lot of shopping. Best birthday EVER!!!
Happpppppyyyyyy birthday! 😀 sadly, all of my birthdays have been super unadventurous, but hopefully that will change.
Happy Birthday!!
My craziest birthday adventure was a night of pub crawling. Never again! 🙂
Happy birthday, Susan! I hope it is wonderful!
Happy, happy birthday!! I was actually kind of excited to turn 30… the start of a whole new, exciting decade!! Hope you have fun on your trip.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SOOZ! I hope it’s a fabulous one, and I hope this year will be even better than the last.
I can’t say that I’ve had an crazy birthday adventures at all, although I have a dance competition on my birthday this year, so maybe I’ll have an answer next year 😉
On my 21st birthday I did the chicken dance with a vampire. He would take his fangs out to do flaming shots! (This is anonymous right?)
Happy Birthday!! And um is it bad that I don’t have one? Hehe. There’s still time~! 😀
My Mexican surprise party. Loud music, happy people and lots of cake!
These books look amazing!! I love the covers, they are Beautiful!!!! I shall add these to my want to read list in Goodreads!!
Happy Birthday Sooz!! 😀 Thank you for the AWESOME giveaway! *crosses fingers*
Umm..I can’t really say I’ve had any birthday adventures. Once a friend of my friends had their birthday party the same night as mine and almost all my friends went to that hers instead of mine, so I had the bowling alley almost all to myself (it was a slow night) if that counts! 😛
Happy B-day! My craziest birthday adventure was sneaking into my old house. I was with friends and we heard a noise. It sounded just like footsteps (our house was “haunted”) so we hightailed it outta there!
Happy birthday Sooz! Best of wishes to you! I’m so excited to see the Something Strange and Deadly series out in the world in its entirety. I cannot wait to have the completed set! 😀
I’ve never had a crazy adventure…I’ve celebrated all my birthdays at home with friends and family 🙂
My car was side swipped on my 20th in front of my house. Not a fun way to start my birthday but it stands out and I still remember it.
Happy birthday!!! Man, I’ve never had any crazy birthday adventures. I usually just spend them at dinner with my parents, then maybe a movie. I’m super boring like that. 😛
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Sooz! Thanks for this wonderful giveaway and for your endlessly helpful posts on writing.
My craziest birthday adventure happened on my 18th, when I had an important exam the next day. I blew off study and my friend and I ended up going on a road trip to a new town. Maybe the sensible thing would’ve been to stay home and study… but you only turn 18 once, right?! And, thankfully, we made it back in time for the exam 🙂
I’ve never had crazy birthdays to be honest. My birthdays usually ended up on exam days which made them quite dull. I did go bowling with my sister and friends on one birthday though, but again, in between exams so not many people showed up.
Happy Birthday to you though!
My craziest birthday was when I went to Vegas for my 21st Birthday.
Happy 30th Sooz!! How exciting! I hope this is your best year yet and that you have a blast in Arizona!
I am SO excited about STRANGE AND EVER AFTER!!! And man are all your covers gorgeous!
I have been so lucky with birthdays. For my 11th, I was at a (huge) sleepover horse camp and at dinner in the mess hall, one of the camp leaders interrupted everyone, holding a bucket and a top hat, and said that whoever’s name they pulled from the hat would have to wash the floor of the entire mess hall that night. Of course it was my name that he ‘chose’, and I went up and he handed me the heavy bucket (I was too shocked to think) and then all of a sudden everyone was singing Happy Birthday and they brought out the biggest cake I had ever seen and handed me a knife (in exchange for the bucket) to cut my own piece. There were more cakes and everyone got a piece but that was especially awesome to 11-year old me.
For my 19th, I was volunteering at the University Games in Serbia (Second biggest sports even after the Olympics) with the men’s Swedish Volleyball team, and they threw me a small but fantastic and unexpected celebration, and showered me with Swedish volleyball swag. There was no cake but there was singing!
And for my 20th, I was on a summer study abroad in the Balkans and we traversed three countries, from Kosovo, through Serbia, to Bosnia, stopping at a secluded, amazing restaurant by some railroad tracks, which a few of us followed briefly to a path that led to one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen of rolling green hills in the Golden Hour before the sunset. Back at the restaurant, there was singing and cake.
For my boyfriend’s 30th, I took him skydiving with two of his friends, and that was superb, as you can imagine.
I have YET to have a birthday adventure. 😉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOOZ! <3 Craziest birthday adventure? Disneyland, hands down 😀
Going to MIBF!!! MIBF is like a huge book sale. It was so fun!
Probably my craziest birthday was my 21st. Started out casual with dinner and drinks, about time. On our way out we saw a mechanical bull, and after a few shots, I fell face first on the mat. We then decided that the night was still young, and somehow I ended up under a pool table wearing a crown and clown sunglasses….
I had fun….
Happy birthday!!!
Don’t really have a crazy birthday adventure… Except for a big surprise party!
I want to wish you a very happy birthday and my birthday adventure is just having more books as gifts.
Happy birthday to you 🙂 .
Happy Birthday!!! I hope you enjoy being 30! 🙂 I never really had a crazy birthday adventure, unless you count the time my best friend placed balloons all over our classroom and shocked me with gifts and a cake in class!
Happy birthday! 30 is a fun year. I think I remember it, anyway. 😉 Great idea for a giveaway. Have a wonderful time in AZ!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!
The craziest birthday adventure I had was probably road-tripping to Kansas City with my cousin and then shopping all day and bar hopping all night. It was grand fun.
Birthday adventure? I’m so old now, I can’t recall. Birthdays have always been quiet and intimate. Ask me again next year. Will have to plan something BIG for next time! Happy birthday! It’s always great to get a chance to celebrate YOU. Thanks for the giveaway.
My dad took me to SeaWorld for my 13th. We left at 4:00AM because he wanted to “beat the rush.” We ended up sitting in the parking lot for 3 hours, waiting for the park to open 😛
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you have an amazing adventure.
I have a running theme of going to see tigers for my birthday (they’re my favourite animals!) and for my 21st we went to a safari park so I could get up close. So exciting! One day, a real safari of some sort would be good.
Happy birthday, Sooz!
My craziest birthday adventure is fairly awesome. I got married 9 days before my 23rd birthday, and spent that birthday in Scotland. The day before my birthday, I got to go horseback riding in the Highlands, which was fantastic.
When I woke up on the day of my birthday, it was pouring down rain. (In Scotland. In September. Very surprising.) But we had a plan and we stuck to it, driving from the cottage we were staying at in Aviemore around Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle. Right before we got there, the rain slowed down and stopped as we arrived. The clouds parted slightly, and there was a fantastic double rainbow over Loch Ness.
We wandered the castle and grounds for a little while, but my husband really wanted to go to Inverness, the city at the north end of the loch, to go to a specialty store for his favorite football/soccer team. So we went, making it there less than an hour before the shops would close. He was afraid to ask around for the shop, because the rivalry between teams is so great, so we wandered a huge city. Went to a mall to see if it was there. It wasn’t. We gave up and left through a different entrance than the one we came in. Literally right across from us was the store he wanted, where he proceeded to spend a ton of pounds on gear.
It was the best birthday I’ve ever had, by a long shot, and I have a hard time believing I’ll ever get a better one.
Craziest birthday adventure was in BG, KY. my sister surprised me by taking me out and we bought a lot of books 🙂
Happy Birthday!!!!! I hope it is awesome.
I think I’d have to go back to my childhood to think up a crazy birthday venture… Does camping outside in a homemade teepee with friends count? For the passed several years I’ve had fruit pizza for my birthday, but I might just get a little wild this year and change to carrot cake! ^^ Yeah, kind of mellow…
But something that isn’t mellow is my complete excitement about this giveaway!!! Congrats, Susan on an awesome trilogy! I love your writing and I can’t wait to read STRANGE AND EVER AFTER- as well as whatever you publish after that. ^^
Craziest birthday adventure was turning the big 40 went on a Country Cruise to the Bahamas with my Girlfriends. Only two of us had ever been on a cruise so lots fun was had by all.
Happy Birthday! Hope it’s a great one! 🙂
Sadly, all my birthdays have been entirely normal. Kept waiting for Jake Ryan to show up outside my house in a red Porsche on my sixteenth birthday but, sigh. No such luck.
On a different note, I have been wanting to read this series for a while. The covers are beautiful!
Happy Birthday! 🙂
All the best!
I don’t have 😀
Thanks for the chance 🙂
Ahh! I loved the first book and I’m really looking forward to reading the next two! Thanks for this awesome giveaway 😀
My craziest birthday adventure involved a swimming pool and a bottle of Mexican Tequila.
My craziest birthday was my 16th, when my mom threw me a surprise party! She invited practically everyone I knew, and even hired a DJ! And I never once caught on – even when she locked herself in the bathroom to take a phone call. I can be pretty oblivious. 😉
Happy birthday, and thanks for the great giveaway! 🙂
Happy Freaking Birthday!!!
My craziest birthday adventure has to be my 21st birthday. I was in college at the time, and we hit up 6th street in Austin. I’m not really sure what happened. There were pictures I don’t remember taking, I apparently played guitar hero somewhere, and I woke up with whiskers drawn on my face.
Happy Birthday!! 🙂
Two years ago I have had chickenpox so it was the worst birthday ever for me.
Thank you for the amazing international giveaway!
My craziest birthday adventure was probably when my mom and I went to Mexico for my 20th birthday. We were just in unfamiliar territory!
My craziest birthday adventure would have to be the year (my fifth birthday) Barbie showed up. I think I spent about seven years thinking that, that was the real Barbie until my mom broke it to me that she was in fact, our veterinarian. Fun while it lasted!
Happy Birthday! I can’t say that I’ve ever had a crazy birthday, but I’ve had some really great ones. My two stand-out favorites were when one of my friends took me to see RENT on Broadway and another when my now husband took me to the zoo. Great times! Hope your 30th birthday turns out to be a great one – I’m reaching that milestone myself this year.
Happy Birthday! Something Strange and Deadly is one of my favorite series! Can’t wait to read more.
Happy late birthday, I hope you had a special time with everyone.
Ah this give away is awesome *___*
Happy Birthday, Sooz! I hope your desert birthday adventure was a blast. I’ve done some pretty fun things for my birthdays but the biggest/craziest thing wasn’t actually on my birthday. I got to visit Washington D.C. just after my 17th birthday (I had jokingly said I wanted to go as a birthday present and then through some crazy circumstances it was possible.) At the time I was a total government nerd and I had such a great time it was totally worth the hit my trigonometry grade took!
I haven’t had one, haha.
Happy birthday !! , i love the story .. gimme the books <3 .
Happy Birthday Sooz!! I need these!!
craziest birthday – maybe the one I spent in NYC years ago. We have very tame birthdays at our house LOL
Thanks for the giveaway!
xo
jaime
My craziest birthday adventure was this last one where my boyfriend, my best friend, and I went to Disneyland from opening to closing.
I’d love to win! My craziest birthday adventure was probably indoor sky diving. I’m terrified of heights so it was a good compromise on doing something fun that wouldn’t kill me.
I don’t have any crazy birthday adventures, but Happy Birthday!!! Thanks for the AWESOME giveaway!!
I don’t know if I’ve had a crazy birthday experience. I did have a birthday at an roller skating ring and one of my friends fell down and broke her arm. She never did talk to me after that. Friendship ruined by roller skating 🙂
For my 12th birthday I took friends to the movies and then had a hotel sleepover. One of my guests lost a tooth to a Milk Dud at the movies and then there was a lot of jumping on the beds late into the night. Maybe not so crazy, but it was a lot of fun. ^_^
Happy birthday, Susan! Thank you for being such a positive, inspiring, incredible presence in the YA community. I’m seriously excited about your books (as you know) and very honored that we’ve met and gotten the opportunity to chat in person. I hope your birthday adventure is AMAZING!
As for me, my craziest birthday adventure would probably be my 18th! My friends and family and I headed out of of town to a house we rented, had a fancy-schmancy dinner and then had a mini-house party. It was relaxed, very chill and fun. I’m pretty excited for this year’s adventure — a One Direction concert (woohoo)!
Never done anything crazy…yet (I’m only 17) But I just had my birthday a week before yours, and I had to present a gigantic English presentation. Does that count? 😉
Happy Birthday! I think this is an awesome give away! ^_^
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I hope it was awesome! 😀 Not really any crazy birthday adventures for me….
Really only 30 and this successful saga? That’s pretty cool, happy birthday, literally having the hardest time waiting for this last book to come out
Never really had any crazy birthday adventures :)Great giveaway and a Happy Birthday!
I have never really had a crazy birthday adventure lol. Wish I did! IT would be a neat to have a ‘story’. Happy birthday 🙂
Happy Birthday, Susan! And thanks for the awesome giveaway! 😀
XXX HAPPY BIRTHDAY XXX Sorry I am boring as I have no birthday adventures to tell you. My birthdays have always been no different as any other day of th year 🙁
Happy birthday Sooz!
Happy Birthday! 🙂
Crazy Birthday Adventure? I haven’t had one yet. Maybe I’ll have one when I celebrate my birthday next week.
Thank you for the giveaway!
Haven’t had any crazy birthday adventures. But, winning all three signed ARCs would come close.
Awesome giveaway! Happy happy birthday!!! 🙂
Happy Birthday!!! And many thanks for the giveaway!
Happy Birthday, Susan!
Nope, nothing super exciting ever happens during my birthdays. Unless you count the time when I was about 5 and I “helped” blow the candles of a friend’s part I attended..
Happy Birthday !
This is so generous of you!
I could have celebrate my birthday in Tokyo once but we had to choose another date so we were there for my boyfriend’s birthday instead .. ! 😛
Dumping bubbles into the fountain on a college campus. Bubbles everywhere. And totally illegal. I didn’t know that at the time…
I’ve never had a crazy birthday adventure. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
Happy birthday!!
I once got slapped at Chuck E Cheeses at my own birthday party, but that’s about as crazy as it gets:)
